***Horse Year & 2014: Action!!***

Happy Horse Year!

Galloping in through earth and flying through sky, the Horse arrives on the 31st January, and as usual in the Chinese New Year (as in others ancient cultures calendar), with the New (Dark) Moon, representing the energy of new beginnings.  This New Year we have a very special moon: the Black Moon, the second New Moon of this month, something quite rare! And a Supermoon, as it's going to be closer to the Earth and much bigger than usual.  And of course, being empty (the Yin peak of the moon) can only be seeing during the day!
***And do you know when the New moon arrives, it's especially lucky to see her for the first time over your right shoulder? And when you see her:
*Being the first New Moon in the New Year, (well the Chinese) is why I love it, as gives a kind of second opportunity to reinforce the wishes, dreams and goals we set a month ago!  Speak your wish (be precise and just choose one) out loud - it will be fulfilled!
Each year, each animal brings us the opportunity reflect on the it's nature, what we can learn from it, which of its characteristics do we recognise in ourselves and in others, and for me the most important: how to take the most of it!
The horse is energetic and free, warm-hearted and passionate, intelligent and a leader, but as well recognises another leader, and when it does it follows it, is how the herd works, and the leader is a mare.
Horses are very sensitive, like all animals. I learned about horse whispering two years ago on a Brazilian island.  It was  so interesting to learn how their characters are so similar to us humans: you have the nice and friendly ones, the grumpy, the laid back, the competitors (but unlike us, the horse will run until its heart stops!). I made a good friend, my 'amiguinha', who I developed a relationship, and on my last day she kept following me, she knew I didn't want to leave and we were both sad for our goodbye!...
The horse is one of the Chinese people’s favourite animals and has become closely linked to people’s lives, as the domestication of the horse was a discovery akin to fire, giving our ancestors freedom to move faster and to travel afar!
For this reason the horses is the symbol of travel, and a sign of speedy success, and adventure.

In the Native American tradition Horse is physical power and unearthly power. In shamanic practices throughout  the world, Horse enables shaman to fly through the air and reach heaven.
And being one of my totems, I would like to share this inspiring insight of the 'power of Horse', from Jamie Sams, in the Medicine Cards:
"True power is wisdom found in remembering your total journey. Wisdom comes from remembering pathways you have walked in another person's mocassins.
Compassion, caring, teaching, loving, and sharing your gifts, talents and abilities are the gateways to power."
More traditions embrace the Magical Horses who fly 'across worlds':
The white celestial cloud Horse is sacred to the Goddess Kuan Yin.  One of the Eight Taoist Immortals has a fabulous horse that carries him thousands of miles in a few moments, often he would ride facing backwards and upon reaching his destination, he collapsed the horse folding it like a piece of paper and storing it in his pocket. When ready to travel again he would take it out, and moisten it with water changing it back into a horse. Here the belief   "He is mounted upon a horse whose spirit may have helped him unveil the secrets of the Tao and immortality. He is said to be still living on earth". (From the Taoist Shaman).

The Unicorns which filled up Fairyland; the Tibetan wind-horse carries prayers to Spirit, and the immortal horses the "Hippoi Athanatoi" from the gods in the Greek mythology.
And let's not forget that a horse shoe is a sign of good luck!
As the Chinese say: “A good horse never turns its head to eat the grass behind.”
So, look ahead, not back! This is the energy of this Horse year! Go for it, take the opportunities of the present moment, otherwise you just see them passing by!   "The Year of the Horse is a time for all people to go forward confidently in the direction of their goals and dreams, just as the horse gallops at top speed toward its destination." (Lily Choo)
Horse is considered a fortunate year that brings luck and good things.
Wood Horse is very successful in cooperative social situations, and not afraid to commit to the unknown. Wood Element and Horse have various things in common, from kindness, to desire: a trigger to go forward, to do something, and competition.
The powerful energy of this Horse: walk your talk! Just do it! Not talking, just walking!
To stir in a bit of alchemy: we have the unstoppability of life represented by the Wood Element, with the dynamic energy of Horse; and the adaptability, shape shifter represented by Water Element of number 7 and it's spiritual energy. Number 7? Yes, 2+0+1+4=7, this number of  magic, and of deep changes, the completion of cycles and starting of new ones, is a kind of energy that have to move and change, otherwise brings imbalances; just think of it: 7 days of the week, 7 colors of the rainbow, 7 chakras (and each associated with 7 years of life from the root to crown chakra) , 7 years of life change!...
Seven represents music too and our ability to elevate ourselves through sound, wherever is singing, moaning, chanting, just have to feel good, can be powerfully healing and indeed the positive vibrational frequencies will influence our body (as it's composed mostly of water and the sound influences it's molecule structure), our adrenal glands love it too! This wellbeing spreads into our energy field (aura) and like this will keep spreading into the Earth’s electro-magnetic field, contributing to a better and happy world!
So galloping or flying, moaning or singing, make the most this Wood Horse Year and all 2014 has to bring you!
